For some reason, most men who are not willing to follow the
path of chivalry reduce being a Gentleman to “sucking up to women”. I cannot
agree with this, to the point that I find it offensive.
True, most women find gentlemen more attractive than your
average man. True, a large part of being a gentleman is treating women like Ladies.
But thinking that impressing women is the final goal of being a Gentleman is
almost insulting.
Why do you say that?, you might ask
.
“Being a Gentleman is about impressing women” as an ultimate
goal means that a boy does not need to be a Gentleman.
“Being a Gentleman is about impressing women” as an ultimate
goal means that a married man does not need to be a Gentleman.
“Being a Gentleman is about impressing women” as an ultimate
goal means that a gay man does not need to be a Gentleman.
“Being a Gentleman is about impressing women” as an ultimate
goal means I have no need to be a Gentleman to anyone other than an attractive
woman.
Being a Gentleman is NOT about impressing women, but about
being a Better Man. The fact that Ladies find a Better Man more impressive than
your average man is just a bonus.
